DISTRICT2.CO IS ANNOUNCED THE WINNER!
July 11, 2013
Stubbs Alderton & Markiles, LLP has announced the winner of the 2013 Pay it Forward For Business Startup Formation Prize Package. On July 1, 2013, SAM participated in the Pay it Forward for Business Event that was hosted by Your Office Agent. This fantastic event gathered upwards of 500 people together to “pay it forward” and give back to the Los Angeles/Silicon Beach startup community. SAM offered a free startup formation prize package that included everything from full formation services and filing fees, employment documents, and consulting and non-disclosure agreements, as well as a host of other services. Stubbs Alderton & Markiles, LLP believes in the Los Angeles startup community and wanted to give back by offering this free formation prize at the event.
While SAM received many excellent applications, one stood out above the rest. District2.Co has been awarded the Startup Formation Prize Package. District2.Co – A New Fashion-Tech Start-Up. At present, the underground garment industry is not plugged into the world-wide-web. “Underground” meaning the indie-brands, designers, sewing companies, pattern-makers, cutters, illustrators, manufacturers, vendors, suppliers, etc who are behind the scenes, on the factory floor, and in the garment district streets throughout our nation. They are unseen, unheard, and consequently underserved. Finding manufacturers and suppliers is extremely tedious, time consuming and difficult, even for the seasoned fashion industry veteran. District2.Co (pronounced district2-point-co) is essentially, a “Virtual Garment District”. It is an online community servicing garment industry professionals who are dissatisfied with the current sourcing difficulties & supply chain deficiencies within the fashion industry. Members will be able to buy, sell, bid, trade, refer, educate, inform, hire and rate one another. They will be able to partake in and co-create an extensive search engine, technologically developed specifically for the garment industry.
Cassie Betts, CEO and Founder of District2.Co states, ‘”The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This was the Eleanor Roosevelt quote printed across my notebook two years ago. Inside that notebook still resides a dream, but now, everyday I wake up, bits & pieces of what was once just scribbles on a page, manifest into reality. I have received an overwhelming amount of encouragement, advice & support from the Los Angeles/Silicon Beach tech community and beyond. I am particularly elated to have won the full startup company set up package awarded by Stubbs, Alderton & Markiles, LLP. I realize that they, along with every other advisor, mentor, incubator or investor acquired, not only believe in my start-up, but believe in me. I thank you with utmost sincerity. I do not take this for granted and I cannot wait to see us bring to life the remaining pages of that Eleanor Roosevelt notebook.”
